KOUFMAN
& FREDERICK, LLP
is a law firm that engages in litigation and transactional matters
for both individuals and businesses. It serves a diverse roster
of national and regional clients, including Fortune 500 insurance
companies, small businesses, and individuals. The firm practices
before the state courts of Massachusetts, the United States District
Court for the District of Massachusetts and the United States Court
of Appeals for the First Circuit.
The
diverse backgrounds and experience of the firm's partners and associate
attorneys allows Koufman & Frederick to serve as a full-service
law firm that is small enough to provide personable yet cost effective
legal services to its clients, and large enough to successfully
engage in complex practice areas that are typically handled by larger
firms.
Koufman
& Frederick attorneys practice in the following areas:
• CIVIL LITIGATION - We appear regularly
in the Commonwealth's Superior and District Courts throughout
Massachusetts, and in the United States District Court for the
District of Massachusetts. Our attorneys have successfully presented
cases to judges and juries on behalf of many individuals and corporations.
The ability to handle trial and appellate matters is essential,
yet most litigated matters are settled before trial. Our firm's
size allows for swift case analysis to determine the likelihood
of a trial. State-of-the-art computer litigation resources, and
the utilization of talented paralegals keep legal fees affordable.
• CRIMINAL LAW – We represent individuals
and corporations charged with criminal offenses in the District
and Superior Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as well
as in the United States District Court. Prior to entering private
practice, both partners, Victor Koufman and James Frederick, were
Assistant District Attorneys in Middlesex County, which allowed
them to obtain significant experience trying cases before juries
in both the District and Superior Courts.
• DIVORCE/FAMILY LAW - Our attorneys practice
in the area of family law and divorce, with a thorough knowledge
of the law gained over many years of practice. We recognize that
aggressive representation must be tempered by a realistic appraisal
of the financial resources of the family and the best interests
of the children.
• LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT LAW - Koufman &
Frederick represent both individuals and employers in claims of
wrongful termination, sexual harassment, employment discrimination
and unemployment through negotiations and/or trial. We handle
cases before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination,
Massachusetts Superior Court, National Labor Relations Board,
Massachusetts Labor Relations Commission and Massachusetts Department
of Employment and Training. Prior to entering private practice,
Associate Attorney Elizabeth Rennard served as the Director of
Human Resources for the City of Salem, Massachusetts and has more
than ten years employment and labor experience.
• INSURANCE DEFENSE - Koufman & Frederick
is regularly retained as defense counsel by major insurance companies
for professional liability defense in claims filed in federal
and state courts in Massachusetts. A number of national insurance
carriers retain Koufman & Frederick to defend their insureds
against claims of personal injury and wrongful death actions.
• MEDICAL MALPRACTICE - Koufman & Frederick
has established a network of highly competent physicians, nurses
and other medical personnel who are available to us to evaluate
medical cases. Our staff nurse attorney enables us to effectively
communicate with all levels of healthcare providers, and to comprehend
and litigate complex medical and health-related issues.
• PERSONAL INJURY - Koufman & Frederick
